Vernon Hewitt - contact
If you are looking for an original, striking land or seascape to own or give as a present, then look no further.
My name is Vernon Hewitt, and I was born in 1961 in Leicestershire. I was educated at Bosworth College, Desford; the University of East Anglia, and St Peter's College and Nuffield College, Oxford. In 1987 I was appointed as a lecturer in Politics at the University of Bristol and retired as a senior lecturer in 2017. Throughout my career I taught and researched South Asian politics, the role of international organisations in global governance and the relevance of 19th European colonial empire to contemporary debates on international aid and development. On retirement, I set about returning to an artistic career I had abandoned in the 1990s.
My enthusiasm as a painter lies in rendering land and seascapes, mostly in acrylic, based on my journeys and on my fascination with space and light. My process is to work from a photograph, aided by sketches, and then finished on relatively small to medium canvases or canvas boards. I cost these works as competitively as possible. I aim to sell all art framed, but respect those who wish to frame the work themselves. Contact me on vernonmarstonhewitt@gmail.com to discuss any works that interest you, or place an order on the site. Postage is free within the UK, standard tracked delivery through Royal Mail of Parcel Force.
